This semester is no different. Actually, it is different. This semester is starting to feel worse than others. I started out this semester feeling like I was staying ahead on my school work pretty well. It didn't seem too bad at first. Then all my teachers decided to start moving assignments and tests around so now it feels like everything is always due at the same time. I also have a teacher that is now "teaching" (if you can call what he does teaching) one chapter each week and testing on it that week, which means there is a test in that class every single weekend. It is beyond annoying! Not to mention that I SUCK at taking tests, especially his tests.

I used to think I was a smart person and that I was good at school, not anymore. I officially am terrible at school, well college. I always did well in school growing up and then I got into college and it feels like I am so dumb. I hate the way that tests count for almost everything. I do pretty well on assignments, but I cannot seem to do well on tests no matter how much I study. It's so frustrating! I just don't think the same way that teachers test. I am terrible at multiple choice questions. How are multiple choice questions even a good measure of how much you really learn?? I have just had it.

I'm tired of feeling like I am stupid. I'm tired of not doing well on tests and just feeling like I have to cry about it (like I am doing right now as I'm writing this). I have always been kind of an emotional person, but this is just getting rediculous! I'm tired of being so unhappy while school is in. I'm tired of classes where the teacher doesn't actually teach what they're testing on. I'm tired of having to memorize pointless information and equations and other crap for tests that I'm never going to use again or if I need to use it again, I will have this thing called the internet, so I can look it up. When are we ever really going to have to have everything we learn in school memorized. We live in the information age! Information is so accessible now so why memorize everything.

I'm tired of memorizing crap for my tax class that CHANGES EVERY YEAR! I work in the tax industry, I know that this information I'm learning changes every year so why memorize it. No wonder so many tax preparers are idiots, they don't actually teach you to read the form instructions, something I have told many tax preparers to do at work. They teach you to memorize pointless random information that is going to change yearly or that is written on the tax form, so why would have have to memorize it when it's right there for you to see when you are preparing a tax return.

My brain just feels like it has reached its limit. I try to study and memorize all this pointless stuff that my teachers think is important for me to memorize (that I almost always forget by the next semester), but I just can't seem to remember stuff anymore. No matter how much I study I still just can't do very well on tests, which is all that seems to matter in college.

I just don't know how much more of school I can handle. I only have seven classes left. Well, possibly eight. When I say how many classes I have left, I tell myself that I can do it, I'm so close. But then while school is in, I really wonder if I can do it. It is making me so unhappy and really killing my self-esteem. Some days I literally feel so dumb. I just don't know if I can do it. I feel like I'm just burning out.

Sometimes I just wish that someone would tell me to not go to school. School just definately is not for me, it never has been.

Sorry this was such a negative, complainy post, but I just took another test and of course did not do well on it. Everytime this happens all these feelings just come rushing in, which has been on a weekly basis lately since I have at least one test a week now. Blah!

Bid Ask Spread

So Shawn and I are taking a finance class together this semester. Our teacher is very nice and I like the way she teaches, unlike our cost accounting teacher.... but that can be a whole separate post. Anway, she is very nice. However, she has a ver distinct Chinese accent and sometimes I struggle to understand some of the things she is saying. It is a good thing Shawn is in that class with me because he understands her better and is my translator sometimes. :) Let me give you an idea of some of the things that she says and what they sound like:
Module sounds like Mojo
Bank sounds like Bon
Bond sounds like Bong
Growth sounds like Gross
Thousand sounds like Seven

I know there are some more, but I can't think of them right now. She is so nice and I think she knows that people struggle to understand her sometimes so she will write the words on the board for us. Well today she was teaching us about the "Bid-Ask spread". I'm sure you can only imagine what that sounded like coming from her! lol You'd think that college students would be a little bit more mature, but apparently we're not because most of the class was kind of chuckling because she just kept saying it over and over! I'm pretty sure that was the only thing that most of the class remembered from today's lecture. lol

New cooking blog

I've been wanting to create a blog for a while now that has my recipes on it. It just seems like it would be so much more convenient to have them online where I can go look up a recipe if I'm not at home but need to know what ingredients I need to make something. So here it is, finally!

Stacey's Kitchen Korner

There's only a couple recipes on there right now, but there will soon be more hopefully! I'm very good at putting my homework off so there will proably be a lot more to come. :) However, if there is not, you will know that I am being strong and actually doing my homework instead of procrastinating.

Time goes too fast

So my last post talked about how summer was almost here and now summer is already gone! Where does the time go??? It always seems like summer goes by way too fast. Summer is always full of fun activities, holidays, and family get togethers. I enjoy that it's warm and sunny and that it is light in the mornings and the evenings. It's so wonderful! I hate that it always flies by. I wish I could slow down time during the summer so it would last longer. :)

My goal this summer was to take more pictures and I did take some, but of course I forgot my camera a lot or I forgot I had. Here's a few of the pictures that I did get though. By the way, I am well aware that I don't look so great in pictures! lol These have motivated me to do my best to keep up with my workouts even with school starting, which I will get to later in the post.

These two pictures below are walking up to timpanogos cave, which by the way is quite the hike! The hike is a little over a mile which doesn't sound bad right? Wrong. You go up over 1000 ft in elevation. The worst part about it was going down. You'd think going down should be easy, well it is, but man did my butt sure hurt when we got to the bottom. Apparently I don't go downhill much and use those muscles.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-I_n9Ji82TbU/TlLh0wTqAZI/AAAAAAAAAVc/Jh-cWv9VQCI/s400/DSC01189.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5643821579485446546" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VUeV-txLk5k/TlLh0WbTxqI/AAAAAAAAAVU/L1LzI3XHN3E/s400/DSC01191.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5643821572538222242" />
This is also on the way up to the cave. Doesn't this stick look like it's holding the rock up?
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NNrzQZ2x5Qs/TlLiRfz-zfI/AAAAAAAAAVk/VQpJOgWU1SE/s400/DSC01194.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5643822073273830898" />
Funny story about the cave. Our guide was very awkward. He was trying to be all nice and involve the kids, but it came across very weird. At the end of our tour he gathered everyone together and said, "This has been some great human contact." It was the funniest thing. Who says that? It just sounded goofy. We got a good laugh at that while we were walking down the mountain with our friends that we went with.

We also got to go up to Survivors at the Summit at Snowbird. It was a lot of fun. Pictures below. Keep in mind this was on August 6th. Look how much snow there still is!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-23G9NYveiDM/TlLjQRXDYKI/AAAAAAAAAWE/3gJd2nSK_F4/s400/DSC01271.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5643823151726157986" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PS4f43Y9htE/TlLjP82UMWI/AAAAAAAAAV8/W7oPPP5nbVk/s400/DSC01261.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5643823146220138850" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iyGDOhHWztQ/TlLjPrJW6ZI/AAAAAAAAAV0/NY4z7NX6hQw/s400/DSC01262.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5643823141468170642" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-y5iE5ynNThY/TlLjPK_y9QI/AAAAAAAAAVs/uCs2F4UhOFE/s400/DSC01244.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5643823132838130946" />
I am well aware that it is gross that we were holding the dirty snow, but we just had to do it! :)

Now onto what is to come the rest of the year. School starts today, but I don't have class until tomorrow which is nice. This semester is going to be CRAZY! Let me give you a little idea of what my schedule will be like:
Monday:    Work 6:30 am - 6:30 pm
Tuesday:   Class 9:00 am - 11:45 pm; Work 12:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Wednesday: Work 6:30 am - 6:30 pm
Thursday: Class 9:00 am - 1:15 pm; Class again 5:30 pm - 8:10 pm (no work)
Friday:    Work 6:30 am - 6:30 pm

I'm hoping to make it to the gym right after work on Monday - Wednesday and Friday and then I can go home and make dinner after. That makes later dinners though which I don't particularly love, but I need to make it to the gym. Plus, I thought ahead and I have made a meal plan for the whole semester! That makes dinners so much easier. This semester is definately going to be interesting! Shawn's schedule is pretty much the same except he has a night class Monday's and his Tuesday is like my Thursday. It's going to be way busy, but we're getting so close to being done. One more semester for Shawn after this and two for me!

I'm sure this post is way long, but it'll probably be the last for a while. Unless of course I'm trying to find a way to avoid homework one day! :)

Summer is almost here!

So, last time I posted spring semester was almost over and as you can tell, school stresses me out. Well I was crazy enough to go summer semester too, but I am happy to report that it is MUCH better than spring semester was. The best part is, I took accelerated classes that are only 7 weeks instead of the whole summer so my classes are over in a about a week! Yay! In two weeks summer is officially here for me!

After summer semester is over hopefully I'll update my blog more and have more to talk about besides school. My goal this summer is to take pictures of everything so I actually have some pictures to post since everyone knows that's why people look at blogs! lol

Hopefully my next post will be more exciting! :)

What to do about school??? Caution... Venting Session

I am currently trying to write my 5 - 10 page paper for my business communication class and it is frustrating me beyond belief. Our topic had to be something dealing with our job or our major so I picked something with my job not knowing at the time what exactly this paper would require. Apparently we're supposed to have 10 resources for this paper and of course use them all. How am I supposed to find ten sources about something dealing with my job. I guess I'll just be using 'interviews' for my sources since she said that was ok.

Ugh, I just really hate school. I have always hated school, I think my mom could verify that! This semester especially has been really difficult. Even though I always hated school, I felt like I was pretty smart. Not anymore. It seems like the more I go to school the more dumb I feel. I don't do as well in school as I always used to. Part of that is probably because I am trying to go to school full time on top of working full time and it's stressfull and hard and I hate it. Part of it too is that I don't put in the time that I should to studying because I don't really enjoy what I'm learning in my classes. I've thought that maybe I'm going into the wrong major, but then I think about what I would want to do and nothing sounds very interesting to go to school for. I think that no matter what my major I will still hate taking classes for it.

I've had people ask me what I want to do and the first thing that comes to mind is that I want to be a mom. That is my future goal is to be a mother. I don't see myself being this huge successful career woman because that is never what I've wanted. I've wanted to be a mom and they don't have a degree for that!

I am just so torn. Part of me just wants to quit school because I dislike it so much and it makes me so unhappy, but part of me wants to finish and get my degree because I do want a degree that I can use if I need to and to show my kids someday that I did it even though I didn't enjoy it! :) Sometimes I just don't know if it's worth it though. I'm not enjoying my classes and I don't feel like I'm really learning anything from them. Most of them don't really even have that much to do with my major, but they're required. Most of the time I leave my classes feeling like such an idiot, which is mostly my own doing i'm sure because I don't study the way I should. Last week during spring break, Shawn got a glimpse of how much happier I am when I don't have school to worry about! It's amazing how stressed I am when I have school stuff to worry about. I don't think I handle stress very well.

Ugh, I just am so torn and have been this whole semester. I keep telling myself that this is just an especially hard semester and it won't be so bad next semester. I hope that's true, but I definately have my doubts since all my classes I have left are upper level classes.

Well, I'm sure no one will have made it to this point in my post, but if anyone does, I'm sorry. I just really needed to write out my frustrations. My next post will be more uplifting!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://shawnandstacey.blogspot.com/2011/03/what-to-do-about-school-caution-venting.html' title='What to do about school??? As I said in my last post I received a calling to be a relief society instructor. I am teaching tomorrow and I have been preparing for my lesson. My lesson is on Chapter 30 in the Gospel Principles book, it's titled Charity. When I first saw the title of the lesson I was a little worried about teaching and didn't quite know how I would make the lesson last the whole time. But as I am sitting here this morning reading over the lesson again and reading my scriptures and reading through some talks that have been given on charity, I don't know how I'm going to condense it to only 30 minutes!

I used to always think of charity as some huge acts of service, but it is so much more than that. Charity is the pure love of Christ, it is loving others unconditionally, like Christ loves us. I wanted to share a few quotes from some of the talks I've just been reading because they just really inspired me this morning and gave me a different perspective on charity. I've put the links to the talks below the quotes.

"Real charity is not something you give away; it is something that you acquire and make a part of yourself. And when the virtue of charity becomes implanted in your heart, you are never the same again."

"Perhaps the greatest charity comes when we are kind to each other, when we don’t judge or categorize someone else, when we simply give each other the benefit of the doubt or remain quiet. Charity is accepting someone’s differences, weaknesses, and shortcomings; having patience with someone who has let us down; or resisting the impulse to become offended when someone doesn’t handle something the way we might have hoped. Charity is refusing to take advantage of another’s weakness and being willing to forgive someone who has hurt us. Charity is expecting the best of each other."
~Elder Marvin J. Ashton~
The Tongue Can Be a Sharp Sword

"Do we judge one another? Do we criticize each other for individual choices, thinking we know better, when in fact we rarely understand another’s unique circumstance or individual inspiration? Have we ever said, “She works outside the home.” Or, “Her son didn’t serve a mission.” Or, “She’s too old for a calling.” Or, “She can’t—she’s single.” Such judgments, and so many others like them, rob us of the good part, that pure love of Christ."

"We also lose sight of that good part when we compare ourselves to others. Her hair is cuter, my legs are fatter, her children are more talented, or her garden’s more productive—sisters, you know the drill. We just can’t do that. We cannot allow ourselves to feel inadequate by focusing on who we aren’t instead of on who we are! We are all sisters in Relief Society. We simply cannot criticize, gossip, or judge and keep the pure love of Christ."
~Bonnie D. It's about time I post again! I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted anything. I find plenty of time to look at other people's blogs when I'm avoiding doing my homework so I guess I should start posting more too when I'm avoiding homework so you two readers have something to read when you visit our blog. :)

I was thinking back on what has happened over the past year plus, since it's been over a year since I've posted, and here's just a few of the things I thought of.

1) We added two adorable little nephews to the family (one of them is already one and the other will be one next month!)

2) My sweet younger brother got his mission call, we got to go to the temple with him for the first time and he left on his mission last January.

3) Shawn and I moved out of a basement apartment into a nicer apartment with more room. One of these days we'll move into a house, but probably not till we're done with school.

4) I got a new calling as a Relief Society instructor (I was pretty shocked when the Bishop asked me if I would accept this calling and I was pretty intimidated at first but every month I am growing to love my calling more and more because it helps me learn so much and grow in the gospel. I love it!)

5) Shawn and I both got promotions at work and we actually enjoy our jobs now because we're treated like adults! hehe

6) We still are not parents yet (I promised my brother we wouldn't have a baby while he was on his mission and I plan on sticking to that promise! :))

There have been other things going on, but mostly what sums up what's been going on is work and school and school and work. It seems like that's all we do right now is work and go to school. Maybe one of these days we'll eventually be done with school. I am looking so forward to that day because I am not a fan of the homework and tests part of school, it's such a pain.

Anyway, that's about all for right now. Hopefully I'll do a little better at keeping this up, but I'm not making any promises. Also, sorry I don't have any pictures. As I was writing this I realized that I need to start taking more pictures so we have photos of what's going on in our lives because I currently have NO pictures on my computer from the last year. I think I may have some on my camera, but since the battery is dead right now I can't get any of them off it so maybe next time I post I'll have a few pictures.

Thank you and goodbye.

Post Overload!!!!!!

So, it has officially been FOREVER since we've posted anything on our blog. Obviously the whole theory about me blogging more when school was out is totally wrong because now we're already back to school! Here's a little bit of our summer...
We got to go volunteer with the Cancer Wellness House at a soccer game, which was quite the adventure. We can tell you more about that some other time though.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qXKwavrW3v4/SlEqkuXQi5I/AAAAAAAAAPg/7NqphJafP9g/s320/P6060754.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355108242329471890" />  The shirts we wore only came in Large, X-Large and XX-Large so they're not very flattering!  lol
While we were there though we got to see David Archuleta sing the National Anthem and we got to watch some of the soccer game which was a lot of fun.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qXKwavrW3v4/SlErZjf96II/AAAAAAAAAPo/mbdF5fBZNsg/s320/P6060767.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355109149946275970" />
We were backed up in the Target parking lot about to drive forward when a lady backed up into the driver side door. Poor Yaris! Her insurance paid to get it all fixed up though so that was good.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qXKwavrW3v4/SqJ-Avg0dFI/AAAAAAAAAPw/GPXTRdPD0Yk/s320/P6200774.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377999456253015122" />
Shawn's friend James is in the accapella group Eclipse and he got us tickets to see one of their concerts. It was a total downpour when we got there so we went backstage until it stopped raining (it was an outdoor concert obviously). A few of us needed to go to the bathroom so James led the way to their dressingroom... notice the sign and how Eclipse is a group of guys!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qXKwavrW3v4/SqJ-8kZTSuI/AAAAAAAAAP4/Dz7H6XZq5xs/s320/P6260781.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5378000484060842722" />
After it stopped raining there was a beautiful rainbow.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qXKwavrW3v4/SqJ_vQsNGyI/AAAAAAAAAQA/W4y4-QiSGSM/s320/P6260784.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5378001354944748322" />
On the third of July we went to a celebration with my whole family. Shawn and I both had to work on Valentines day last week so we decided to just celebrate Valentines on Wednesday this week on the 18th because we have that day off. Well last Thursday Shawn said he was going to go to the gym after work for a bit. I have not been the most enthusiastic about going to the gym lately so I told him I'd meet him at home. So I got home and was sitting at the table doing homework and I hear him opening the door and he tells me to close my eyes. When I opened them, this is what I saw:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qXKwavrW3v4/SZsh3sfianI/AAAAAAAAAM8/H-lBVXfZkvk/s320/DSC00806.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303870226878851698" />beautiful flowers..

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qXKwavrW3v4/SZsh-RJcYkI/AAAAAAAAANE/9NSqiHNkK3c/s320/DSC00807.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303870339797508674" />and some baloons..  one that was huge!  lol

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qXKwavrW3v4/SZsiUjFkyuI/AAAAAAAAANM/LtDSE-oB-As/s320/DSC00808.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303870722570242786" />Isn't he wonderful!

Now for our cooking adventure story...

So, I usually cook dinner and Shawn will usually do the dishes, but we started getting tired of that because I don't always love cooking dinner by myself and Shawn doesn't always love doing dishes by himself so we decided we would start doing it together. Well, this is what happened when Shawn helped me cook dinner for the first time...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qXKwavrW3v4/SZsjIl2tnmI/AAAAAAAAANU/mZVGwR_HdVs/s320/DSC00816.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303871616666410594" />

Now if you can't tell exactly what this is, let me explain. We were making my mom's delicious sloppy joe sauce so we could make sloppy joes. This is a picture of the recipe card. I had set it on the stove on the burner next to the one I was cooking the sauce on. Shawn started to cook the hamburger but he accidentally turned on the wrong burner and this is what we were left with! At least it didn't start on fire and we could still read the recipe! lol

Work & School - that's about sums up our life right now

Basically our lives right now consist of working and going to school. Work has been pretty busy lately so we've been working a lot of overtime and then when we're not at work it seems like we have either school or homework to do so we're definately keeping busy. School is going ok, I just took my first test today and I think I did ok on it, at least I hope so. I like my teachers a lot this semester, but Shawn wasn't so lucky with his teachers. He's taking a botany class (it's required for his major) and his teacher insists on swearing up a storm. Shawn made a game of it and started keeping a tally in class one day which I think he said got up to around 40-50! lol

Our apartment has been very quiet this last week! Our land lord joined the army and went away to boot camp and his girlfriend went to California for a week so it's been really nice to have it so quiet! Our lease here is up next month so we've been talking about if we want to stay here or try and find another place. We really like it here but we are really paying more than we should be so we want to start looking around to see if we can find something nice for more reasonable so if anyone sees anything, let us know! :)

What a Great First Day of School!

Let me just preface this with saying that it is going to be a long post.

So yesterday was the first day of school. Shawn and I were not way excited to start back to school but at the same time we were a little excited just because we took the last sememster off for the wedding and so starting back means that we are closer to being finished. Well that little bit of excitement wore off really fast yesterday.

Let me start at the beginning. Sunday night I made taco soup for us to have Monday right after work so that we could come home, have dinner real quick, and then head off to school. Well, Shawn and I get off work at 4 and of course it started snowing Monday so we left work between 4:05 and 4:10 and didn't get home until around 4:35 which is not that great seeing as we live like 5 minutes from work! So we obviously didn't have enough time to eat and then drive to school and make it to class at 5:30 with the roads being that bad. We had been driving the yaris so we just switched cars so we were in the passport since it's a lot better in the snow and then left for school. Some people at work had let us know that the freeway was closed because of an 11 car pile-up so we took the highway. It didn't take us as long as we thought to get there but we were still 10 minutes late for class.

Well, my class wasn't that bad. We just went over the syllabus and went around the room introducing ourselves and then we were out by 6:45. Shawn's class was in the same building so I just went and sat by where his class was and started reading the first chapter that my class will cover next week. I read it, and finished it and Shawn's class still wasn't out. I walked around looking for a clock but couldn't see one. I just walked around a little more since I'd been sitting for a while and when I went and sat back down I saw a clock right by the door of Shawn's class, it was 8:25! Class is supposed to be out at 8:20, but Shawn's teacher just kept going and going until 8:45!!! He finally got out of class and was telling me all about his teacher gets super excited about finances and accounting and just never stops talking even for a second! lol Before we headed home we ran to Sheri's (Shawn's mom) house to get Shawn's phone that he had left there the day before and then we were on our way.

When we were driving the battery light went on in the passport, but it seemed to be driving ok still. Well, that didn't last very long. Soon the heater stopped working, the radio went off, the lights started dimming, and then after a while the gauges stopped working completely and the headlights were so dim, you could barely tell they were on. The car was still running so we just kept going as far as we could, even though it probably wasn't the safest thing since the lights were so dim. Then the car finally had it and died completely.

So, what were we to do? It was around 9:30 which normally we would be getting ready to go to bed soon since we have early work. Well, we called my Dad and he came right out there. I am SO thankful for such wonderful parents that will just drop whatever they're doing to come help us whenever we need. Well, we tried jumping the car but that didn't really work because we think it's the alternator going out so the battery just isn't even getting charged. So, we started charging the alternator and sat in my Dad's car to warm up a little bit. We decided that we would need to either tow the car ourselves or pay to get it towed. We are cheap and Shawn's best friend Bryan had a tow cable so we called him up and he brought it out to us which we were very thankful for. So we got the cars connected and started towing the car to my parents house which was quite the scary experience since the roads were so snowy and slippery, but Shawn did amazing. It made it a little nicer since there weren't too many people on the roads at this point.

We finally got the car to my parents house and we had charged the alternator enough that we could turn it on to park it in thier driveway. My dad then took us home. We didn't get home until around 12:00, and we were finally able to eat something for dinner. It was such a long night and I have to say probably the worst first day of school ever!!! lol We are so greatful for such wonderful family and friends though that were so willing to help us.

Great Weekend

So this last weekend on Friday, Shawn and I got to go see Michael McLean's, The Forgotten Carols. It was so amazing! If you ever have the chance to go see it live you should because the music is so powerful when you listen to it live. Then on Saturday Shawn played a Christmas show with Danielle and a bunch of other people that was really good. Danielle is a very talented vocalist. Here are a few pictures from the concert they put on. Sorry if they're a little dark or blury because the lighting made it weird for taking pictures and my hands were not very steady that night!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qXKwavrW3v4/SUfhOOYXtXI/AAAAAAAAAMk/fcefGVcc9ao/s320/DSC00780.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5280436722609927538" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qXKwavrW3v4/SUfhoIKkTLI/AAAAAAAAAMs/wWS_trP-e2c/s320/DSC00785.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5280437167618018482" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qXKwavrW3v4/SUfh7AnX4rI/AAAAAAAAAM0/7-PlQsOWbvo/s320/DSC00791.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5280437492008870578" />

Slow Day at Work

Today I got so bored of having to clean up the HTML code on several of the Knowledge Base documents that I was working on so I decided to take a little break and change all the colors on our blog (that's much more fun HTML to be dealing with)! Shawn and I have mostly just been working which can be fun, but seriously, why do we waste so much of our lives working? There are so many other things to be doing that are so much better! Too bad money doesn't just appear in our bank account! haha We also registered for school this last week. We're both pretty excited to start school up again after taking last semester off because of the wedding.

For those of you who don't know already, Shawn and I got called to be Nursery teachers in our new ward. We just knew it was coming!!! I really like how this ward organizes it though because there are two couples who teach every other week so that we can go to Sunday School and Relief Society/Priesthood every other week.

Well anyway, when we got called two weeks ago the member of the bishopric got our phone numbers and said that one of the members of the primary presidency would contact us and let us know what was going on. So Saturday night at 7:30 the primary president called and asked us if anyone had told us anything, which they hadn't so she asked if we would be willing to teach on Sunday (the next day) because the other couple that teaches was out of town and she would get us a manual the next morning when we got to the nursery. Shawn and I were a little annoyed that they waited until Saturday night to call us and ask us and then not really tell us what was going on, but we figured it wasn't a big deal and that was our calling so we would make the best of it.

Anyway, when we got to the nursery the other couple was there and so was one of the members of the primary presidency who told us that we could just stay in the nursery so the other couple could show us how things are done. Well that was an interesting experience. The other couple sticks to a very strict schedule. One of the little girls asked if I would read her a book so Shawn went and grabbed the books so we could pick one. Well the other couple told him that we don't read books right now because it's toy time so we needed to leave them put away. Book time is later apparently. haha I guess it's good to keep a schedule with little kids, but it just made Shawn and I kinda chuckle that we weren't allowed to read books to the kids during "toy time". One thing that Shawn and I decided after being in the nursery with the other couple is that the kids are going to learn our names!!! We will be Shawn and Stacey. We're not even going to try for Brother and Sister Miller, we will be Shawn and Stacey because when the kids wanted the other couple's attention guess what they would call out... "hey yo, teacher"! hahaha We do not want to be, "hey yo teacher" so we will be teaching them our names!

Well now I've pretty much written a novel! Hope no one fell asleep reading it! :-)

Wedding Photos!!!

We've been really bad at updating our blog lately, but I wanted to just take a minute and post a few of the favorite photos from the wedding.
